Up to whoping 213mm since midnight in inland kaikoura.
30mm here in rangiora today and this on top of 30mm yesturday, still coming down but much more so in the last two hours.
Ashley bridge still closed and will be till the river drops.

Will test our 4wd out too with a drive up to the Hanmer skifield on Sunday

Sure is Richard can add this one to the old waimak bridge which is also stuffed- the waimak council own both

And only a matter of time before someone ends up in an accident when the bridge decides to give way, will it really take that sort of thing to happen before they do something.
Funny thing is they fixed the main northern motorway bridge by putting in new bridge gaurds, but nothing done to the old one.

Back on topic another 5mm since 5:30pm so within the hour, light to moderate falls.

For a severe weather warning with MetService I believe there needs to be more than 50mm expected within 6 hrs or 100mm within 24hrs and needs to be a widespread occurance .

A reverse of Canterbury's NW Arch, possibly ?
No wonder it was warm over there today, 17C in Westport and 16C in Greymouth whereas we only got a scundgy 8.6C maximum here in West Melton
