Gee this winter has been wet in Canterbury. I'm not sure how low the sunshine hours have been.
I'm in Kirwee and have woken up to further steady rain-the paddocks are soaked!

Yer some big coldies storming through this morning, no hail as yet but its more than cold enough up there for it. Sun is out doing its work down this way so fingers crossed for a bit of noisy stuff later on.
Looking forward to the photo of this "supercellular" type thingy you got, Vertigo!

Thunder heard here just after that heavy little shower about 20 minutes ago (no hail). Tracker puts it near Corormandel though.David wrote:We just had our first shower of the day, it had tiny bits of hail in it for a brief moment

We just had a roll of thunder here, although the rain underneath the cloud was a bit pathetic surprisingly

Excellent photos guys. The trick today will be the afternoon heating which may be difficult with so many showers about!

Everything fits the description except for the temperature drop it to about half of that for those conditions here.

Unfortunately, Surface temps were too cold for the Cb's to become active. The amount of showers seemed to hamper any good form of heating.

No Whenuapai midday sounding today. A bit slack, there should be a balloon flight EVERYDAY without fail!!!
Yes, surface temperatures too cool today for anything too exciting. Observed hail in the morning.
