Re: General September Weather
Yup it has got really flooded, the bank underneath the Cobham Drive bridge is half the size it usually is with trees starting to go under.jamie.h wrote:heck the old waikato river is on the rise. and its rising very quickly. past all the early flood warning heights. lots of flooding between auckland and hamilton.
Although its not as bad as the floods we had in late 90's, boy that was a shocker where entire streets started going under that resided by the river.

Re: General September Weather
Model output indicates there may be a snowfall over the Volcanic Plateau and lower North Island ranges Saturday. 6 days out though....Will the north island get much snow or is it a south island event

Rain settling in now from the north here, despite a light SW that has been blowing for much of the day.

Re: General September Weather
Rain overnight here, fairly grey dull day though quite warm (20c this afternoon) apple blossom seems to be late coming compared to last year, not an awful lot on the trees yet.

Re: General September Weather
Fine morning in Auckland but haven't seen many of those of late.
The front due over the west of the North Island later tomorrow could have a bit of instability with it. Looks to be a thunder risk for Taranaki at this stage, but this could be extended north. See how the model runs shape up.

Re: General September Weather
This SW gale for Friday/saturday looks significant.....could bring severe SW gales....will bring in a massive SW swell too, up to 6m on the west coast...good thing just had some big tides this weekend...will be smaller tides next weekend...

To me it looks like it will be westerly, rather than SW....you will probably be getting gusts around 120km/h where you areManukau heads obs wrote:This SW gale for Friday/saturday looks significant.....could bring severe SW gales....will bring in a massive SW swell too, up to 6m on the west coast...good thing just had some big tides this weekend...will be smaller tides next weekend...

Re: General September Weather
yeah, I guess more W than SW
if it does come in WSW then it gets funneled more west by the valley here
we could get stronger than 120kmh , possibly up to 130kmh!
could be a good day for a weather meet out this way ?

Re: General September Weather
Even been a few strikes on the tracker before, so could be interesting as the southerly rolls through Christchurch.
It has been a warm day up to 21C with a strong gusty NWer, although currently rather settled with little wind.
