Looks as if ridging will be dominant in the models this stage ahead.

Well gardens have dried out a heck of a lot with very little rain since the earthquake. Infact, I was watering the garden last night, esp since new plants for the upcoming season. ANother great start to the day, it blew through the night though! 17.5 degrees going for 21 degrees today. Off to sefton to play cricket today so maybe a little higher there!

Temp has gone up slightly in the last half hour here, up to 22.5, fairly gusty NW, enough to be blowing the petals off the Magnolia tree & make a real mess of my hard grind in the garden :( Forecast looks to call for more of the same tomorrow, and nice temps for a while to come.

Yes, although less than 20km down from Oamaru Aero, Oamaru Town was on 20C with a light WNW'er.

24C in both Kaikoura and Napier today apparently.

Ive often noticed that the area north of Oamaru around Glenavy is considerably cooler than than in down town Oamaru. Quite often when ive driven through that area it can be a moderate northwesterly in Oamaru while up near Glenavy it can 5 or 6 degrees cooler with a east/southeast.

Got up to 21 degrees here today with a strong northwesterly gusting to 77kmh. Looking simalar tommorow execpt much less wind.

I know someone living in the Glenavy area who makes exactly the opposite assertions re its conditions relative to Timaru and Oamaru - all of which supports my longterm scepticism about such claims in general.

Looks like we get one more system to end the month. An active frontal band with good moisture will bring heavy rain to the west mid week including the western and central high country of the North Island. A polar trough looks on the cards for the South Island Thursday with the possibility of afternoon thunder/hail in Otago/Canterbury given very cold upper air currently being modeled.

The wonderful sept weather continues. Expected high of 19 is out the door as it is already 21 degrees here now with not a breathe of wind. Long as the NE doesnt get up 23/24 could be on the cards! Have the irrigation going in the garden at the moment.

Yeah i noticed its a good 4 degrees colder at the airport. Although for some reason, we tend to warm up quicker on these sort of days in the eastern suburbs, maybe something to do with the topography...im not sure but it always seems to happen on these calm sunny mornings. I expect the airport to start rising rapidly soon.

Today being a light NW and 23C helped dry out the garden that has had 75mm in the last 9 days.
Cant remember having a wetter period of rain from the west in the last 10 years
