BTW - Michael doesn't much these days either...

Excuse my errant anemometer - it is sick of the rain too... and I haven't had a chance to get up on the roof to change it out...

Here's NIWA's preliminary 'September 2010 National Climate Summary'.

"Wet and wild westerlies"


Records were broken for the wettest Sep in Turangi, Taumaranui, Te Kuiti, Paraparaumu, Palmerston North, Invercargill, Hawera, Ohakune, Waiouru, Wanganui, Takaka and at Lake Rotoiti.

Highest wind gust was 204 km/h, recorded at Cape Turnagain (N Wairarapa) on the 23rd.

National average temperature was 0.5°C above average.

Highest daily temp was 24.6C, recorded at Kaikoura.

Wgtn still managed slightly above normal sunshine despite receiving over twice its normal rainfall.
