I thought I would start up a page on the forum of members photos of the recent Canterbury Earthquake.
Here is a scene in my front room.

Yes.
I picked it up, replaced the pendulum, and put it back where it was and wound it up and it went for about 5 minutes then stopped. Luckily it was just the glass frontage over the face that broke. Can be replaced.
If it dosen't go, i'll just leave it as such as a momento that was near enough to the time that the initial earthquake struck.

rather repair it than replace it with a mickymouse clock from the warehouse other words put batteries in it the second hand goes around also powers the pendulum and has a tandem difital display and it beeps rather than strikes or chimes i

Yes. It is one of the options but I'm not really worried about it.
I just put it back to where it was before the quake.

Haha  hmm ill go around and smash things so i can claim them under insurance, ohh bugger the hammer is stuffed too  .

I wonder how many people actually did this, alot of people who maybe had little damage in thier homes and had items they hated.
I wouldnt do that we had enough damage in our home as it was, some valuable things like my nana's crystal glasses and crockery varse.

It would serve those people mentioned here they have to have proof of the items.Better still they dont get the full value.

I found it under a pile of heavy green firewood that I had stacked in the garage. The pile fell over in the earthquake.

We were staying in the Riccarton / Ilam area for the weekend (timing!!) and the only major damage evident at the time were fallen chimneys, and the 2 Nave peaks from St. Peters at Church Cnr. Oddly, ALL the headstones in the attached cemetery were fine: something to do with E/W layout vs N/S lateral movement perhaps?

Here is a photo of the new Greendale to Rolleston fault as it crosses a road near to where the railway lines twisted about 2 Kms west of Rolleston.
I live about 3kms ENE of there.

I think that's Kerrs Road. Here's a couple of shots of the Wards Rd/Sandy Knolls Rd intersection which is on the same line of damage 2.5 km west.

I visited my friend in Burwood early in the week, he was told a crack (photo) running through his backyard and other local properties was a Fault. They had major Liquefaction in his area and many houses have damage, some are unlivable.
