Been up in Nelson since the 23rd nice weather up there apart from some heavy rain overnight monday and strong winds. Come back to Fairlie to find a very welcome 71mm of rain in my gauge. Currently overcast and 18 degrees.

You went back a day too soon! Today was amazing, especially after yesterday, blue skies with only 1 or 2 tiny clouds all day and none of the wind we have been having ample sufficiencies of in the last week or so.

Still a heap of tourists around here and Golden Bay, Interestingly Nelson got a bit quieter on Boxing Day and Monday but its back to its peak again by the looks of things.

The day ended very warm in the end at 27.8 at 5.45pm but this bloody useless website only had my area at a high of a 16c high this morning, though increased it to 18 later on

Sure is a lot of rain certanly wasnt expecting that. Yes at the moment it is low cloud was blue skies all the way from Nelson to Geraldine then it started clouding over with it being completly cloudy by the time I got here.

Humid conditions are back, dewpoints up to 18C for Auckland now, currently 22C, mostly overcast.

Looks like December was a cloudy warm month right across NZ, rainfall up for many areas but below average for some areas east of the main Ranges.

The NW has come up here now so that will stop it from getting to warm this afternoon,just on 23C

Thick high cloud here with a nice northwest arch out towards fox peak. Currently 21 degrees with a light easterly wind.

The same high cloud is still rather thin here,earlier i said it turned NW but its more of a westerly really which has been gusting up near about the 40kmp range at times,got to the high here at just after 4.00 of 26.3,nice day for working in the garden

Max was 24C this part of town, a humid morning, fresher 15C dewpoints now, currently sunny 22C, fresh SW breeze.

I noticed Dunedin on 12.5C early afternoon, Dunedin and Oamaru are currently on a tropical 13C, perhaps somewhere in the UK will be warmer today.

Be interesting to see whats in the herald tomorrow,it seems to be more truer than the TV maxima.Must have measured in the sunshine as theres been plenty since 11am here.

Yeah, and as usual they take the highest out of the 3 official readings...Airport probably struggled to hit 23 today

24-25C looks to be a good representation for Auckland max temp today, most of us know the Airport temperature on a general SW flow is often a poor representation for Auckland tremperature max.

Herald had 23.5 that wouldve been in the morning before the gale arrived,today be even less 21-22 pushing it as it wont abate till dusk here.

Correct - Akld Aero recorded its max of 23.5C late morn yesterday, while Whangaparaoa recorded 25.4C around lunchtime (0.1C more than me).

Now, what did the NZ Herald say the max-gust at Akld Aero was yesterday?
