Getting some light rain here now hardly enough to wet the ground though. If that rain band on the rain rader continutes to drift south we could get some more heavier stuff later on. Mild and humid here currently 19 degrees with 85% humidity.

If Zelia is making a direct hit on the tip of NZ at the moment does that mean it will be further down the country by evening?

To say its currently at Cape Reinga, weather here isnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. Quite gusty winds but little to no rain. Not sure if the winds are set to worsen but arent up to damaging speeds yet.

Dew point nearly 24C at Whangerei, the sun must be out there for them to be up to 27C. Maybe a bit brighter here this afternoon? Temperature hasn't really budged from what it was at dawn

the rain band approaching cape reinga is NOT the cyclone, its just the remains of the cloud top associated with it earlier.. it has since detached itself from zelia, which is spinning WNW of auckland currently.

So the cyclone is still north of NZ or is it WNW as you said? Sorry, bit confused.

central pressure must have come up alot from the 989 at norfolk island...
