I think this band of rain forecast in a few days time sitting near east cape will be very interesting. Its very slow moving and intense and if it tracks further west than the GFS has been suggesting then that will be interesting!

Its doign a grand job of steering clear of the basin reserve. Keep it up!

plus, dont forget, its not over for those in the central/lower north island and nelson.

for those of us above that area tho, its worth noting the general feel of the day.. very tropical, lots of moisture in the air, and fairly gusty. all hints that something much stronger is nearby and spinning wildly. had it moved this way, it would be a different story!

Yes New Zealand is playing well for once!!! Dont ruin this moment weather!! Also 24 degrees for wellington, thats pretty dam warm for them!

still some good rain to move into the far north I think...sat image shows lots of cloud bands up there still to move in
I see its averageing 38 knots at Cape Reinga now....but thats nothing for them.....

barometer is dropping much faster here now
amazingly the remains of Vania are still visible, and Vania is looping around the top of Zelia

Just went for a walk with the dog. IT"S TORTURE! Hot and windy, but beautiful sight of the kaipara harbour and the rain clouds in the far distance but really hot!

Looking at 2pm radar seems everywhere but CHCH is getting good steady heavy rain up the east coast. Everywhere blue except CHCH that is yellow.

Nothing here in Carterton .... everyone in the district now desperate for rain. Drought zone coming soon otherwise. :(

By phone from Ashburton where it is raining, humid, northerly wind blowing flag out straight. Total overcast with some low raggy clouds.

Yes, unusually high dewpoints, above 23C for the upper North Island.
Some rain moving down across Northland now.

We havent had much here yet only 2.5mm so far. Not very often we have 21 degrees and rain at the same time.

As its starting to look like these 3 Lows are all meeting up . As the southerly moves up the country in the early hours of the morning an meeting with the remnants of Zelia is there a possibitie of thunderstorms developing for the wellington region. Its overcast here in Wellington at the mo an really muggy

Hot and humid here in Wellington. Can't wait for the rain to come, the backyard is looking pretty brown.
