The warm front was evident overnight with some spots of rain on the deck when i got up, rain started around half past 10 and started off steady.
Steady to heavy falls from afternoon, but staying mild on 18C and still is too.
Rain back to moderate falls at the moment, checked the rain gauge up to 26mm so far and there could be some even bigger falls coming overnight.
I reackon it will be interesting to see what happens when the low wraps off the east coast of the South Island and the strong to gale southerly comes in.
Could well be some good heavy falls as the cooler air rushes into the moist tropical air.

better than 0.0mm here in Carterton... and a mere 16mm for 2011. Soil moisture deficit is massive down here. I see the Rural Fire Risk has been increased today to extreme. q-

very rough at takapuna beach today, all the windsurfers are taking their fill!

i see vania has indeed swung around N of zelia, and is now on its way to crossing northland this evening - no wonder its picked up in storminess, with zelia helping vania drag all this northerly air down across us.

Shepherds Valley, looking at sate images you should get some rain there this evening or in the early hours of tomorrow morning, Upper Hutt is experiencing some heavy down pours at present. Since about 3pm this afternoon we now have @ 7.56pm 20mm of rain so far.

yes, it is calm even 200m inland on the shore, so likely for you too, depending on geography.
have you been out to the coast?

18.9 deg. here, 86% humidity, storm-warning flashing as pressure drops further, now 12.5hpa lower than at 10.30am today. Overcast up top but no longer raining, sunshine in fact. No wind on ground but cloud moving slowly across from NW.

Still from the NNW here, and humid, little rain last 3 hours here,be nice if it dived due south so we get westerly winds rather than SW...
