The windows are steaming up on the house as the outside temp/dp rise! The condensation is on the outside of the window, never seen that before.

yep, i see that too, interesting.Manukau heads obs wrote:yes, the low seems to be developing a loop now (displaced at the high level from the low level (i.e tilted over low )?
also looks to be some hooks in the trailing edge of the last cb's, wonder if any funnels are being produced?

Notice the Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane regions are still getting very extreme hourly rates. Whakatane 16mm last hour, 18 before that and 15 before that if i remember correctly!

Re: Significant tropical-rain event 22-25 Jan
RAIN!!
Nothing compared to the totals further north but finally, some good sustained rain in the Wairarapa!
Have had the following from this event:
21/01: 8.4mm
22/01: 16.0mm
23/01: 5.0mm and counting.....
Really pleased with the total and the soaking steady nature of the rain. Radar shows we should get significantly more, and coupled with the cooler temperatures (currently 12C) and lack of wind, it is allowing the pastures and soil moisture levels to regenerate, albeit slowly.

100mm total here now
I see the western side of northland and down this side might hold onto the rain a bit longer yet
still only 16C here!

Re: Significant tropical-rain event 22-25 Jan
I stil don't understand where they think another 100mm is going to come from...no rain here for over an hour, cloudy, warm and gusty NE winds. Remaining surface water has all been soaked up. Event total since 4pm yesterday 89mm, much less than expected here
Re: Significant tropical-rain event 22-25 Jan
I would sure like another 100mm but i think it's unlikelyDavid wrote:I stil don't understand where they think another 100mm is going to come from...no rain here for over an hour, cloudy, warm and gusty NE winds. Looking at the traffic cams in Auckland - a bit of chaos out there around Esmonde Rd, and the causeway on the North Western http://www.metservice.com/national/traf ... s/auckland High tides plus probably a bit of storm surge
