Re: General February Weather
Very heavy shower just cropped up here in West Akl, coming in from the NW. Radar images suggested some reasonable tops and it even looked like it could have dropped a funnel at one point.
Anyway, pics below. These are taken from the Sunnyvale Hill (by Waikumete Cemetry) looking NW at about 3.30pm today.

Re: General February Weather
Had a shower about an hour ago that delivered 1mm of rain and almost flooded the entire road here! If we get a deluge in the next 2 days or so it will flood easily.

Yes. Nice convergence line to the NE from here. Looks as though it is fraying a bit now thoughCHCH Weather Chaser wrote:Had a shower about an hour ago that delivered 1mm of rain and almost flooded the entire road here! If we get a deluge in the next 2 days or so it will flood easily.

Re: General February Weather
Stupid new phone I have touch screen and that is what happens! What it should have said was persistent drizzle here now for the last hour. Gutters not coping with it. Anyhow, still persistent drizzle out there now. Very wettening. Luckily we never lost power or water here!CHCH Weather Chaser wrote:Persistent rain drizzle here now just hour. Re: General February Weather
The GFS is starting to look a bit autumnal now with troughs coming in from the west next week. Certainly getting cooler mornings at the moment, I see Timaru has 4C this morn. Looks to be a small trough over the upper NI this weekend but not sure we'll see much from it.

Re: General February Weather
We havent (fortunately) had this weather for a while...Gales,guess fresh in your terms... seems like it needles randomly raining down, trees sound like worn out roller bearings planes screaming like sirens as they approach, hate it,hopefully a pattern change.Probably if that cyclone passed closer would have cleared the crap out even if SW direction like the sept storm did that.

Dense overcast, 11.7 degrees, raining enough to be quite loud on roof; gentle breeze from south or southeast; cold, unpleasant.

Re: General February Weather
Looks a repeat of yesterday here,as long as the BOP has lower pressure relative to us to give us this weather.
