Trieste is known to be a "open city". Once the port of Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Wien way to the Mediterranean, the town is famous for many architectonical styles, such as "Bizantino", "Barocco", "Stile rinascimentale", "Sile Imperiale". The town has been declared "open city" from 1945 to 1970 because of its closeness to the East Soviet Countries during the Cold War. Nowadays it is one of the wonderful cities in Italy and in Europe ;)

Thankyou for sharing the photos, Davide. Trieste is another place that my father was in, probably 1945, and I have some of his photos taken there then.

The austria hungary empire encompassed "Yugoslavia" too before its inception but Dalmatia(the adriatic coast side) is very Italian influenced.
