Weather for ITM400
The ITM400 is NZ premier motorsport event and this year could prove to be interesting as the models show a bit of rain hanging about for the race weekend.
Has anyone on here got any inside info on what to expect on the 16th and 17th of April?

I think the chance of showers or brief rain on Saturday as a trough crosses the area, fine weather Sunday in the south or SW flow behind the trough.

Re: Weather for ITM400
As i drove through the track past the pit lane on my way to work this morning the cars were being unloaded into their respected gaurages.
Hoping for some of those on off showers. That will lead to an interesting race as teams choose to leave slicks or put wets on.

Re: Weather for ITM400
Latest gfs shows a warm front crossing the region early Saturday morning with rain, possibly heavy, easing by dawn. Saturday will be a humid day with dp18C but a cold front is due to cross in the afternoon with more rain/low ts risk.
Sunday looks like W or SW with showers possible.

Jet stream coming into the west of the NI tomorrow will provide some upper level support for the trough.

Re: Weather for ITM400
Thanks for the info Steven, should make for an interesting race weekend.
This is the first time that the soft option tyre is being used on a street track, so if it does dry out (esp thru qualifying and top 10 shootout) then the lap records will go for sure.
If it rains however then the soft option tyre wont be used at all, they'll have to commit to wets. If this does happen then there is every chance the kiwi Shane van Gisbergen to get on the podium and possibly even win.
Go the Gis !!
