low seems to be drifting very slowly east now

re rain, one thing that was missing was cold air to rain out the airmass?

Glad it's eased up. Got intense for a while there.

I think we've seen the worse of it, but those South of us may not be as lucky.

Looks about 75mm here.

Not as much rain as thought as well, may be cut off from colder weather south but certainly over the wind directions of late now and time for some northerly or even a straight westerly direction for once and some oomph too.

Should be a mild day today with 21C on the cards. You can see the front on the sat pic with some cb's on it.
It should be over our way this afternoon but whether there is enough convergence to produce anything interesting, we'll have to see. Pity we don't get these troughs in summer as this would be an active thunder situation in January.

GFS Lifted Index chart for midday indicating a moist subtropical airmass over the North Island.

We like Fijis weather in winter(here in summer) there its mostly anticyclonic,if were furthur north even norfolk island maybe in summer it would happen,by winter its the southern ocean regime and then its our storm season.

Yes our wet season is the late Autumn,Winter, early Spring months due to much better upper level conditions for the development of rain/showers.

Rather humid this morning with dewpoints near 18C, cloudy light winds, 18C.

I see there have been a couple of thunderstorms near the top of Northland

You have to exclude about 85% of the South Island from that assessment though.

Dont believe the hamiltonweather.co.nz one. Tims Matangi one is fine to use though. Its an electric fence short on mine that is sending it wild. Have tried to call dad to turn fence off but cant get ahold of him.

I have got the fence turned off. So now it should all come back into line and make more sence. My one was throwing out the combined results page.
