Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
Mild conditions across NZ and some rain for most places at some stage over the weekend. It looks like a sub tropical low will move onto NZ from the NW and weaken followed by a NW flow.

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
Like the sound of a NE-NW flow not an E followed by SW flow.I thought an easterly on the coromandel would bring surf? Unless youre surfing in Thames/Te puru

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
3.5mm here to 9am (mostly since 6am). Relatively warm night too - down to 14C this morn. I see winds tipped gale-force on the Waitemata last night. Out in the Gulf they've eased slightly, but still reaching gale-force.

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
I see the Met Service have a high of 20C for Auckland tomorrow which doesn't look out of the question. Should be mild with 18C atleast with a dp of 16C. I think the long term average daily max for early June is around 16C.

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
Very brief few sports of rain here. Not enough for the gauge to record anything though. Looks like the coromandel will get the highest total from this event. 43mm so far in Tapu Valley today.
Update: Rain a little more steady now. All be it brief im sure.

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
I know this is not weather related, but as a Brit I do find it rather amusing (without being disrespectful) that you are referring to this weekend as the Queens Birthday Weekend. We dont get a Bank Holiday on this date or for her real birthday (21st April). What happened to the idea of changing it to Matariki?
Its gonig to be warm and sunny here today, Saturday (up to 24*C), but turning cloudy and much cooler tomorrow with the chance of a few showers or thunderstorms.

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
Its always been called Queens birthday as far as I remember,Australia some parts of it has QB next weekend.Matariki only heard of it about 10-15 years ago, maybe a good name..refers to the maori new year and helical rising of the plieades (m45) in the morning sky the 1st appearance.Dont the U.K get holidays on other dates we dont celebrate? How many holidays you in the U.K get?

15 degrees here currently! I get the feeling that band will move offshore south of here with just a brief period of drizzle or rain

Yes I know the feeling..... the wind/rain together can be so annoying.I didnt mind the cold especially in season but we havent had this this year but guess it will come later and hang on later too.

Re: Queens Birthday Weekend Weather
Very warm overnight with that air aloft before the change kicked in around 4am.. was fair howling its guts out, driving rain was enough to wake me.
20mm in the gauge, best part of it falling around that time.. just a light misty drizzle now.
