Re: General June Weather
that next pool of CB's to our SW, is that going to roll over the top?
is that it for lightnin active CB's for auckland or more later?
its interesting that the group of CB at the wind change trough line have not been lightning active, instead the showers have been becoming more lightning active as they have moved over northland and auckland and out to the NE of northland.....must be more conducive in that zone....and speak of the devil, the shower line about to hit the kaipara area has become lightning active as I type this...

5 degrees and moderate to heavy rain here,I wonder how low the snow level will get with the heavier precipitation.

Re: General June Weather
Good point. Im guessing with the heavier precipitation maybe as low as 400m. Heavy rain here last half hour or so. Looks like a little break soon before another heavier band moves in.Deano wrote:5 degrees and moderate to heavy rain here,I wonder how low the snow level will get with the heavier precipitation.

Re: General June Weather
That last band really intensified as it moved towards the east coast - Waiheke might be getting a good downpour.
Re: General June Weather
Hoping for more lightning, two flashes not enough for me! looking forward to possible hail...that is if it does arrive here.

Re: General June Weather
Looks like there will be a thunderstorm east of Waiheke Island shortly.
Here is a brief clip from the evening storm here, not a great clip as it is the first time I have used the video function on my Camera .

Thats a Warning sign of lightning striking in the immediate area! As soon as they saw/felt that they should have got down on the ground.Manukau heads obs wrote:that lightning in auckland was hair raising:

It doesnt matter if the Pitch was synthetic or not, Lightning will find a way to the ground whatever the conditions.
Luckily it had an easier path to take.....

Re: General June Weather
A proper cold outbreak seems to often arrive quiter fashion(ie a trough envelope than if it went through W -SW - SSW -S (a low moving to the SE with high in the tasman)

Re: General June Weather
Yes it shouldnt be far off from snowing at the peak of Mt Te Aroha and Mt Pirongia. They get snow at the peaks when it rains like it is and it is below 7 degrees here is the waikato basin. Currently 8 and raining.Manukau heads obs wrote:looks like snow cloud here, 6.8C here , brrrr, will be our first day to not get to double digits for the morning for winter

I wonder if the ski fields got much tho. They are more on the western flank and the snow was coming in from the east. Desert road would have had a good dumping.

Re: General June Weather
I will be very happy to see the end of this damp, cloudy, crappy June. I think July will be brighter, and nearer to normal temperatures.
