Same here distant lightning coming closer though but buried in a lot of cloud.
Seen an airplane coming from the clouds flying pretty low. Should have taken a pic as it had some lightning in the background.

Pretty disappointing.
It always seem that Auckland misses out on thunderstorms.
Maybe tonight some more...fingers crossed.

Winds are increasing dramatically here! Hearing rumbling in the distance. \:D/
Station does not show it as it is shielded from the westerlies, going to replace it this weekend.

Next decent looking shortwave to affect the upper North Island will be Sunday morning. Looks to be some unstable air over the west of the NI tomorrow but Taranaki more in the firing line at this stage.

Was there any thunder in Auckland overnight? Wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't.

Heard some heavy precip but that was about it. A bit of a fizzer for Auckland.

Hopefully we can catch a storm in the coming days.

even though im dirt tired i had a great sleep last night being woken by the sound of thunder and my room being lit up by lightning.

On my way to work thismorning i drove through a pretty decent squall. some good gusts were pushing the car around.
