This system has been a complete dud here
Would be nice to get a real thunderstorm while I'm on uni break.

Re: Squalls and Thunder, Western parts of both Islands 9-10 July
Serious squall just came through with torrential rain, lightning, and 10mm+ hail.

That Waikato cell looked strong on the IR sat pic. More cb building out to the west of Waikato in the Tasman.

Re: Squalls and Thunder, Western parts of both Islands 9-10 July
Vicious squalls roaring through down over here, I've sustained some damage to the facing wall of the back shed, has blown the thing in completely, some of the squalls felt like lifting the roof of the house on numerous occasions.. that awful freight train roaring wind sound with the whole house shaking. If this keeps up there will be stuff all left around the backyard (very large potted plants have all blown over) .. too dangerous out there for photos, will sort that out in the morning.
Provided the winds haven't blown me out of the country

more thunder! its like the storms are coming to life once they hit the land. Maybe Mt Pirongia is providing the lift needed?

Seeing lightning now over Auckland. It missed us here by approx. 5km this time.
Looking on the rain radar looking like another band heading this way...hopefully this time it will hit me.
