Saw that lightning storm. Missed us here by 2km. :x :mad:
Only thing we have had here is wind...50kph all day long now.

Just to the south of me (its died now)

The storm had a direct hit on Glenview and then started to head into Cambridge.

Radar showing a very heavy shower heading into Hamilton around 45 to 50 Dbz :D

Decent size hail SW NorthIsland today.
500mb wind over the lower NI today was 75kts. Good speed shear.

Serious squall just came through with torrential rain, lightning, and 10mm+ hail.

That Waikato cell looked strong on the IR sat pic. More cb building out to the west of Waikato in the Tasman.

Vicious squalls roaring through down over here, I've sustained some damage to the facing wall of the back shed, has blown the thing in completely, some of the squalls felt like lifting the roof of the house on numerous occasions.. that awful freight train roaring wind sound with the whole house shaking. If this keeps up there will be stuff all left around the backyard (very large potted plants have all blown over) .. too dangerous out there for photos, will sort that out in the morning.

Provided the winds haven't blown me out of the country ;)

more thunder! its like the storms are coming to life once they hit the land. Maybe Mt Pirongia is providing the lift needed?

Seeing lightning now over Auckland. It missed us here by approx. 5km this time.
Looking on the rain radar looking like another band heading this way...hopefully this time it will hit me.

Hasn't let up all night here. Been getting hail and light ing all night. Seeing about 10 flashes per min on average and hearing about 3 thunders per minute
