Absolutely fantastic day here today. 16 degrees currently with no breeze to speak off. Maybe gusting to 5km/h at most at times. Passed the high of 13. Will be putting the irrigation on tonight as the ground is mcuh drier than normal for this time of year.

Lucky you (probably) not have to pay for water like here.

Yes true. Although they may have to come up with some strategy as i've heard due to water supply shortages we will be on restrictions by the end of October. Its been worryingly dry the last 12 months here and a dry winter certainly hasnt helped. Need to have some systems where a low deepens of the canterbury coast for some rainmakers every so often to keep the supplies adequate.

The lightning active feature in the Tasman is interesting. The good news is we have a number of dry days for Auckland this week, Tuesday mainly dry, Wednesday fine, Friday fine and Saturday should be dry for Eden Park. I have had enough of the rain, time to turn the tap off.

This current trough pattern would be very interesting in October/November if it can keep going. In recent years the unstable pattern has ended over northern NZ by early to mid October with the arrival of anticyclonic southwest flows.

But has it been dry? looks about normal so far and as for watering your garden so dam early this only makes it far worst for your plants with it cooling the soil, they also get use to the water and when it really gets dry they suffer.
Chch supply shortage is due to pumping and well breakdowns not low ground water _b

Very green here.
Mowed the lawns today and some of the clover is looking very lush possibly helped by recent snow precipitation and cool nights and the Septemeber sunshine :D

Wow, so much colder there. Maybe that happened cause when it was slightly warmer the precipitation was heavier? pulling the snow level down in the heavier shower cells?

15 kms SW of Culverden. That's the part i find interesting, while it was snowing here i looked up the temp for Culverden and at that time it was 5.8deg,2.8 here,in yet the same height above sea level.

Still it was great to get a decent fell of precipitation for a change with 15mm
