I am not sure what to make of those rain intensities they issue.
Any estimation they stick up on there is usually well below the actual intensity of precip falling.

The typical Thunderstorm will have precip intensities that quite often breach 100mm/hr in the core of the storm.
Unless they are talking about potential accumulation intensities then that would make sense.

Nice sunny day in Auckland 18C.

GFS is showing about 400j/kg CAPE and some convergence over inland Waikato this afternoon so maybe a late afternoon thundery shower there but nothing too significant in my opinion.

Mainly fine, max 19C.
There is shallow seabreeze convergece across parts of Auckland currently with perhaps a shower for some places.

I could see a glaciated top over your way David, a weakish cb. A few thundery showers over the central NI as well I notice.

the CB over the Hunua ranges looked good from Waiuku when I was in town around 5pm
