Suprisingly warm out there. we dont often get days like this. It looks like one of those days where its skolding hot outside but it isnt.
I think the stange thing is how dry the air is... not humid at all and not a cloud in the sky yet its warm. Hamilton doesnt often get like this.

Why is Grey Lynn 2.5C warmer than Howick? :-k
I have noticed SE Auckland and South Auckland catch the SW flow more, I think it will have something to do with the Bombay Hills/ Waitakeres.

I see 25C at 3pm for some NI locations today

Nowhere 22c let alone 20 here inspite of the sunshine and haze, looks it in the car as soon as you step out get windblasted,Metservice has 18.4 currently, seems realistic for here.

I worked out why it's looks hot. It's the haze! Why is it so hazy? It's incurably hazy here!

Paddocks around the area still in flood, not drained much at all due to a higher water table since the quake. Have dodged the forecasted drizzly rain for here, although it looks like we might get some brief rain soon as some development is working its way north.

Same here too,but i recon it was more of a smoke haze about this morning, its the time of year that they do controlled burn off's over in Auzze and given the airstream was coming directly from there i presumed thats what it was.

I noticed the haze today too not quite even a cloud form very thin but enough to take just affect the sun.
Wind has stayed NE all day even some CU popping up here and there, looked good your way Richard for awhile.
No southerly as yet here infact no wind at all, but lightly raining.

The ghost echoes often show up when there is a very strong low level inversion.

Southerly came through here from 5:40pm with some substantial rain. Not much drop in temperature but from it being hazy today, it was much more of a weak convergence effect to the rain droppage.
Lots of already moisture in the air.

Steady rain still falling. Went for a drive out the back of Cashmere and Halswell and so much water on the paddocks. This will just be adding to the fields. Another 6mm to date.

Low cloud and 15C to start the day here, low clouds should burn back this morning.

Looks like a trough line (SE change) will be over the central NI today with a few showers there but dry for Auckland.

Tomorrow Sunday, surface convergence inland and some cooling aloft (12Zgfs) suggests the possibility of isolated late afternoon thunderstorms over the central North Island. But weather will be fine for Auckland.
