Haha, thanks Richard. Although I must say we have fast increasing blue sky all of a sudden with drizzle stopped and some weak CU at the moment. :D

No sign of heavy showers as yet with sunny spells and cloud, southerly is beginning to strengthen. You can see that low starting to do a turn around Timaru on the radar. Looks fairly wet down there.

Roundhill Ski Area webcams show snow, but I'm not sure what altitude those cams are at, as the snow is covering the view.

Ahhhhh Humble Apologies folks! I haven't looked for an age

I'm seeing some parallels here with the storm that wiped out the Lyttelton marina a few years back....maybe....

Yes defenitly snowing at Tekapo, I had to go up there and have just come back and it was snowing heavy from the top of Burkes pass. Around 10cm in Tekapo village.

Up to 37mm of rain here now eased off a bit to what it was but still solid rain.

An annoying, boring days weather here with prevailing cloud and strong southerlies. What the heck happended to the rain band, its vanished over the last couple of hours...

I must say, metservice have been a little bit off with the "showers becoming frequent and heavy this afternoon", you need showers in the first place to become frequent.

Yes and the rain band/front out to the east of the South Island that earlier today i thought may have swung back on to Canterbury looks to be heading far more to the south.....at this stage.

Well i felt lucky enough today to have had at least an active storm nearby, though after i had finally decided to hop in the car and drive a lot closer,it fizzled out  mind you did see one fantastic strike before it died

Sounded like it was north of Culverden... was a bit hard to tell though as I was in the shed milking the cows at the time.

Yep the radar showed south of Hamner but north of Culverden,my pathetic attempt at storm chasing today only took me as far as Culverden where i soon gave up,so then brought some petrol and a chocbar and headed home again :-w
