I'm usually good on not posting the entire article but I was just in a rush, not too sure if I left a link either, anyway still blowing good down here, would be interested to see what kind of gusts they got on Stewart Island todayNev wrote:You're right. Sorry missed that, as was right at the bottom with nothing to distinguish it from the story itself, i.e. no quotation marks, no title, etc. Have just reinstated it in the original post.Flutterbye wrote: Yet you deleted his informative comment, ie, the wind is stronger this afternoon.

I see they charge so essentially they are profiting by using my data!
Do you know where they get the data from?

Re: General November Weather
Times like this I shouldn't have been so lazy and put the Anemometer up , better do it next weekend, winds slowly easing, still getting the odd good gust.

they only are charging for like pro aspects of the way the data is presented (otherwise that link is free)Hey Brian, I see my weather station is on there, yet I didnt sign up.

the data is mined from either wunderground or CWOP (i.e public data)
I do like the way they present the data

Another SW blow for Auckland today but should be brighter.
Sunday will be a warm day for inland parts of the country with 28C in places.

Re: General November Weather
I see NW gusts were again up to 206 km/h at Cape Turnagain before midnight last night and 150 km/h at Castlepoint.
Yesterday arvo's 115 km/h gusts at Invercargill Aero look to be the highest recorded there since Oct, 2007, although it came close with 113 km/h early on May 17th this year. Not exactly sure what the record is for that site, but it would in excess of 140 km/h.
Fairlie also did fairly well with 98 km/h, as did Oamaru Aero with 96 km/h.
Updated Southland Times story, 'Gales batter south, stop beach racing'.

Re: General November Weather
November is my least favourite weather month in Auckland because we get quite a few of these stable cloudy southwest flow days.
According to the niwa data page Gisborne is our warmest city for average maximum in November( long term average), 21.3C which is cool.

Yes, last November we had the early arrival of the warm humid weather caused by a strong La Nina.

Re: General November Weather
Last Nov was also very dry with above normal sunshine for Akld (sunnier than last Feb, although Feb was exceptionally dry). This month may end up little cloudier than normal with similar normal temps.

Re: General November Weather
ps, so much for the wind forecasted to ease this morning
it has actually increased more here, and the barometer is dropping slowly even....
must be the way the pressure is being distributed as lee troughs form and weaken, etc?

Re: General November Weather
that pressure increase (some disturbance in the air stream passing by or similar) was short lived...
baro rising again now, and wind has eased slighty
nice to see sunshine and warmer temperatures

Re: General November Weather
As of 9am this morn, T-mins at Akld Aero are about 0.2C above normal and T-maxs about 0.5C below normal, so a T-mean of about 0.3C below normal (actually -0.2C if unrounded). Mangere's T-mean is about 0.3C to 0.4C below normal. One of the more notable overnight exceptions being last Wed/Thu night, which saw an exceptionally warm night plummet by 4-5C just before 9am.Michael wrote:The minimums seem to be quite high even the colder mornings been higher than say Rickys station but the maximums (here aint)Nev wrote:Last Nov was also very dry with above normal sunshine for Akld (sunnier than last Feb, although Feb was exceptionally dry). I probably should have also mentioned that, although Akld's mean-temp last Nov was about normal, most other places, particularly in the south, were above normal. Also, due to a prevalence of anticyclones last Nov, it was nowhere near as windy as this month.

Re: General November Weather
Down to 7.5C overnight here with NE winds this morning.
Maybe thundery down south tomorrow with the odd clap. Depending how dry the NW is.
Good to watch the next front coming up on the new Westland radar overnight and tomorrow
