Its been trying to set in here but still rainfall is unrecorded (less than 0.2mm) Seems much of Canterbury as seen some more organised rainband. Timaru with over 15mm from 3 hours.

Rain has set in now over the last 30-45mins. 5pm and 6pm radar show some very heavy stuff falling in Coastal North Canterbury and out to sea as well as south of CHCH. We seem to be missing out on the action here, at least for now...

Was briefly here too, back to steady rain now. Once again, big totals coming in. 11.6mm in LeBons Bay and 7.6mm for Ashburton. Only 2.6mm here in comparison.

Absolutely monsooning here in Riccarton for the past hour and still thumping down. I don't think I've ever seen a sustained deluge like this in all my years of living in ChCh- our office roof now has leaks all over the show, high drama

Just got back from a wee drive. Surface flooding in some areas. QUite heavy around Cracroft, HoonHay areas at the moment. Very little wind with this which is strange for CHCH. Has been light NE but now light SSW currently. See you can see on the 830HS radar the intense stuff around your area MTN. Looks like that will bypass the city inland.

Another 12mm for the LeBons Bay past hour. Geez they are racking it up!

Some heavy, 'thundery' falls here in West Melton between 8:30pm and 9pm, before and after the SE change moved through.
No thunder or lightning heard and seen here.

Brilliant sunny afternoon here, has allowed the temperature to climb to nearly 21C. Thought we would have had some days of 23C by now.
