Not too bad a day here, apart from a couple of showers there have been long sunny periods, with 20 degrees and a fresh NWer.

Lovely start to the day here with plenty of sunshine and blue sky, a light NE breeze and 16 degrees at the moment. Think we will surpass the 19 degree high.

Today has quite a 'thundery' feel about it, some quite big drops of rain falling occasionally

Could be lucky and get a TS. Metservice have ammended their chart for Dunedin and Coastal North Otago with an increase to moderate risk. 21 here now, as mentioned earlier the NW is much fresher than recent ones. Normally with a lighter NW and clear blue skies youd expect around 25+ at this time of year but the colder airstream down south is responsible for it being somewhat fresher here today. Gotta love this sunshine though.

Has been sunny and felt 'fresh' all day, with a strong Nor'west breeze; currently 17.2 degrees & 43% humidity. Seems to have been constant low white cloud on south to southwest horizon.

A low dewpoint will make it feel cooler, I see the dewpoint at Christchurch has fallen to 0C.

A nice afternoon here, some cloud this morning with a couple of showers, max 21C, dewpoint 12C

Cool and fresh NW winds here today in totally clear blue sky conditions.
The odd Cu congestus to the SW but nothing squally towards the mountains?

MetService never mentioned strong and cool NW for us today.
Today's fresh, cool NW winds should be mentioned in their short forecast, I think, as it is uncomfortable for people out in it:wave:

Steven, what do you think the Monday max temperature will be? The flow looks moderate WSW to me at this stage. It looks like the warmer air might stick around for several days

often though the west cost areas of the NI miss out on getting hot due to an inversion layer causing anticylonic gloom type conditions
inland that will burn off though...you might be far enough in land....

Yes, the SW will prevent things from heating up in the west. Auckland looks like about 23C provided the low cloud burns away.

Some eastern South Island places including Marlborough could get their first 30C readings of the summer.

Few spots of rain here at the moment, nothing to cover the ground. Gusting to gale though at the moment. Last 10 minutes Average wind speed of 55km gusting to 75km locally. Its quite off-putting actually. The house makes all these random creaking sounds that it never use to make in the wind pre earthquake.

Cold, fresh, gusty northerly with moderate rain at the moment. Temps have dropped and now the "apparent" (feels like) temp is just 4°C here !

EDIT: Rain got a lot heavier briefly peaking at 17mm/h but clearing with blue sky to SW...

Yup, brief squall coming through. Winds have eased somewhat now to moderate and the sun is beaming again. Gutters flowing with water, on the edge of it here, looks like Northern CHCH and Coastal North Canterbury will get the bulk of that.
