Re: General November Weather
Oops, couple of those figures were rounded. It was actually 0.4C at Chch Aero on both Sat and Sun morns. Also, New Brighton Pier's T-min for the calendar-day yesterday was 9.8C (the 24 hrs to 9am Sun began with 8.1C just after 9am on Sat). Quite a temp-range for such a short distance though.Yesterday Nev wrote:Chch Aero got down to 0.0C before sunrise this morn and 0.4C yesterday morn. This morn's T-mins at Kyle St and New Brighton Pier were a little warmer with 3.2C and 8.0C respectively.

Re: General November Weather
the high does look a bit more dominating for the NI than the models first showed....(La Nina influence?)

Be much better stationary east of the country rather than the tasman.

Drizzle with 12C this morning. Feels like winter!
The warmer airmass arrives here tomorrow and should be a mild hopefully sunny week.

What a nice day! 25.1 degrees outdoors, 25 degrees within - just about perfect.
Blue skies, some high clouds, gentle breeze.
48% humidity.

Re: General November Weather
watched it
I think I remember watching that episode the first time it aired
cool it covered our famous tornado here (that travelled 20km or so from the top of the peninsular to Kariotahi, SW of Waiuku)
must be one of the longest tracked tornados in NZ maybe?

Overcast morning here, 16C. I see Metservice have us on a high of 24C for Thursday, that would be lovely!

Re: General November Weather
Some quite cold lower level air works its way up the country We/Thu.
We tend to get our very warm weather here in Auckland with the arrival of the humid air, usually from late Nov.

Re: General November Weather
This was earlier around 10am and before. We had no wind and felt very warm indeed. Was the best part of the day. However, the typical NE came up soon after I posted.Deano wrote:Im in ChCh and its far from tropical.......CHCH Weather Chaser wrote:Very tropical here this morning with overcast conditions - thick high cloud. Every model I have seen shows a weak to moderate La Nina episode coming this summer. Not a "pure El Nino", where did your El Nino come from?

Re: General November Weather
Down to an overcast 15.4C currently, but mostly up around 16-17C overnight here and Akld. I see it's still 16-17C in Tauranga and Whitianga though.
Monday saw central Otago recording some of the highest temps so far this spring, with Roxburgh and Middlemarch up to 27.6C. Yesterday it was Gisborne and Hawkes Bay's turn, with 27.5C at Gisborne Aero and 27.1C at Hastings. WNW gusts in the Wairarapa's Cape Turnagain also got up to 137 km/h.

He's talking "El Nonsense". La Nina conditions are present, and here to stay for quite a while - but not as strong as the previous event.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Don't get me confused?Michael wrote:Looks pure el nino the models are showing up as soon as they said it be la nina.

Re: General November Weather
maybe refering to the fact these cloudy cool W or SW conditions over the upper NI are el nino type weather
well, its normal type weather at this time of year, and can occur in a la nina
but not usually for very long...back to lighter SE to E winds from tomorrow...
