Re: General December Weather
Yes the pattern this week has been good for Central Otago, I think La Nina is generally good for that part of NZ.
We have atleast managed near average temperatures here despite the cool air sitting over northern NZ off late, much warmer air will push in with the subtropical low this week.
Some cloud for Auckland today but plenty of sunshine also, light winds, 23C, perfect Xmas day weather.

Re: General December Weather
Most 'offical' Akld sites have recorded 24.0C or more once or twice so far this month, the exception being 6 times at ARC/Watercare in Pakuranga. Both Pakuranga ARC/Watercare and Ardmore Aero also managed 25.2C on Dec 5th, while NIWA's Pukekohe site got to 24.8C on the 9th.David wrote:Have you other Auckland guys noticed the real lack of summer temperatures this month? Even on a fine day we are lucky if the temperature reaches 23ºC. Yet to record a 25ºC day in Howick....
Relatively warm nights have kept average mean-temps up.

Re: General December Weather
Dont think a 32c maximum would go down boring in Auckland
though has remained fairly pleasant over the holiday period so far....

Frost in December would not be boring also.Michael wrote:Dont think a 32c maximum would go down boring in Auckland
Boring weather is what you want during the holiday season, tropical lows are bad news.

Good thing you don't live in Darwin... Swimming in the river would likely be the last thing you ever did. Shame too as it's so tropical over there.Richard wrote:yes i suppose, and also this boring weather makes for good swimming down at the river as well,so bring it on
So far the weather has been pretty good, I'm hoping for some interesting weather in the coming days.

Re: General December Weather
It could do anything out there at present.
Shame as I need to do some work at a radio site some 40+ km away and don't trust it enough to make a start.

Re: General December Weather
Nice to have a high cloud layer over head today to keep it a bit cooler,13deg overnight low with the continuation of yesterdays westerly, though much lighter than it was late afternoon.

Re: General December Weather
It's the warmest day here in nearly 3 weeks, at 23.3ºC....just shows the lack of hotter days so far this summer. A nice day with high cloud and sunshine.
