I think the wait was 5 or 6 months before being contacted. Pricing offered...

Delivery was something like 7 weeks over the xmas period. Ordered about 18th Nov, arrived 6th Jan.

Oh, the irony is not lost on me at all!!! I first had to overcome the shock of losing two network switches, one port on the router plus the Raspberry Pi irrigation controller however before I could have a laugh about the ironic situation.

A contributing factor is that the Blitzortung instructions say to earth the unit well - and mine is WELL earthed, thus "attracting" surges from all over the place. Anyway, I now have surge diverters etc on hand ready to improve my "lightning protection".

Thank you very much. With that sort of wait I better take a closer look at the old board and see if I can repair it.

Please do yourself a favour and move the weak point elsewhere (aka, take that earth off the Blitzortung system).

Not many lightning counts in this neck of the woods? Is the Blitz working OK?

it acts as a force field
ever since it was formed there has been less thunderstorms

I was looking at your stats the other day. It made me wonder if you'd increased your gain. I recently dropped mine a little after observing it in interference mode.

Really, you don't say ;) I quoted only to indicate who I was referring to :) My comment however was quite serious as you did suddenly jump up in detections. As you are likely well aware, I keep an eye on them and give heads up to owners I know if their detector goes offline. I shoulda just used a private message as usual.

Awesum. That'd work. Like reducing my gain to stop it going to interference mode might. As we both run 1st generation Green Hardware It'd be good if we can compete with later Red (Gen 2) & Blue (Gen 3) hardware. Of course the big difference in practical terms, Gen 1 has fixed gain. Gen 1 & 2 has variable gain. I actually own all 3 versions. Knowing your router has been causing a few problems, I hope that is a resolution. I find it ironic that a few of us in NZ grabbed the ball and ran with it allowing the Oceania TOA detection to work, yet we were forgotten come the time for a Green to blue upgrade. That said, it's a useful tool. Despite some difficulties/delays making contact & acquiring, it's worth contributing. (Sorry, I have Asperger's Syndrome & aren't good at this, it's hard with my black & white goggles on)

How come when I read the daily world wide weather reports in the paper, Singapore/ Kuala Lumper always says thunder, yet nothing appears on the Blitz? Johannesburg also comes up with thunder and nothing down there. Don't they have detectors?

Singapore, being right on the equator, will have thunderstorms that occur nearly daily but probably at a certain time (e.g early afternoon?)
ie so you would need to look then

I've tried resetting my original green setup several times. Sill not showing. I'm now wondering if the system is no longer processing them. Have noticed it's bias towards Red & Blue for a while unfortunately.

Despite the 3 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings from MS, nothing was from there of any lightning strikes, today, just showing lightning strikes out in the Tasman Sea and one or 2 off the West Coast, for them to issue so many warnings, there must of obviously some lightning from cloud to ground?
