Best thing for me are the sliders on the time series maps.. so much better than the prev/next buttons!

I'm being very frustrated trying to look at Radar and Rain Forecast images that are only a fraction of what they should be. Like the software generating them has an error and only produces 5 to 20% of the image. Is it just me or are others experiencing it too?

do you mean for low cloud drizzle not showing up very well (limation of when the beam is going above those low topped rain clouds)?

No, you get a portion of the image at top and the majority blank.

Interesting. Just thought it might be my browser, so used Internet Exploder. Still happening but at a different point in the image.

Bizzare... Maybe I should blame my ISP? Weird thing is, reloading the image multiple times in each browser causes the same failure at the same point. The forecast image I chose in Exploder is complete.

MetService - Forecast Terminology

Fine: Dry weather during which conditions are mostly sunny or bright. Even if there are scattered clouds or a thin veil of high cloud over the sky, shadows are cast by the sun most of the time.

I'm missing seeing the location of all towns plotted on a map - the names are there, but no 'X marking the spot', as it were.
Not the best if one is unfamiliar with an area.

for some reason their daily high for places do not match the hourly forecast high temps. Eg Hamilton has a forecast high of 22 today. However the highest temp in the hourly forecast is 21.

Nice new set up i like how the warnings are at the top of the page, which is important for people to see when visiting the website.
When i looked at the Canterbury rain radar i thought ohh no they havnt got rid of the 120km zoomed in radar have they, but on closer inspection its up the top theres a 300km one as well.
Which is good because you can see whats coming up the island and then zoom in for closer regional areas of isolated activity.

The older website had both the 120km and 300km options. Your right in the way it is better with the warnings on the main page. Not sure I am a big fan of the new set up though, I think the data is slightly more complicated to read. The new website doesnt really have any new functions - it is just portrayed differently. To be fair I think I liked the older site more. Mind you, it might grow on me.

Are you talking about the brief new Zealand forecast? If you hold the mouse on towns and cities tab and look towards bottom after all the towns listing you'll see 3 additional options there. This is somewhat why its a little more complex in its set up.
