I've noticed the hourly forecasts often don't have much in common with the daily forecasts for an area, especially wind direction. I see the "computer generated" disclaimer there but does metservice not rely on this info at all?

Would be good if rain radar/sat image loops stopped
On latest image instead of oldest

Yes, and if the future weather charts were completed over Australia and the area to the south. Wouldn't be too difficult to extrapolate the data from BoM.
I also preferred the towns/cities list in geographical order, not alphabetically.

Have just about given up trying to navigate MetService new site.
Found what I wanted here: http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/weather/longrange
I have no idea how to navigate to that information from MetService homepage.

Mouse over the "Towns and cities" tab and click the "Extended brief forecast for all New Zealand" link at the bottom of the pop-up.

I hate to say it, but I think the Metservice website is garbage. I'm sick to death of having to manually pause rain radar or rain forecast animations on incomplete images, then right click to view image, then Cntrl F5 refresh several times till I get a complete image. Then back to the animation and repeating the process until I have complete images all the way through the Animation. Its the only way I've found I can get the complete images up. It never happened before this latest version was forced upon us. I'm still with Xtra, still using the same browser & ad blocker. With ad blocker off and with different browsers it's the same.
Where was the consultation and consideration of feedback?

I've had no such issues here tgsnoopy! I'm getting used to the website now and am actually starting to like it. Looking forward to the return of the historical data.

I'm pleased that it works for you. Sadly that doesn't help me, so how about some specifics like ISP & Browser. It might help locate the problem.

Can other forum users please report if the rain radar and rain forecast and any similar animations load reliably for them. Please also include whom your ISP is and what Browser you are using. I suppose the operating system too might help. I'm beginning to wonder if it's an Xtra issue.

I'm with xtra but I'm not having the same issues as you are. On the PC, I use IE9 and on the laptop, I use Chrome most of the time.

For what it's worth - I'm not fussy on their new site at all. Having to navigate to find the short forecast and the brief extended forecasts is a PITA. They should have left the old site up until everything, including history, was complete on the new site.

Yes, it's quite interesting that the National Radio's long range forecast is worded a bit different to what MetService put up on their website. It has always been that, that is why a make a point to listening to their long range forecast on 3YA or checking it out on the website above.
