Re: General February Weather
Given the dry air we would be looking for good chilling in the upper levels but latest run has the upper air warmer for BOP.

Re: General February Weather
Looking at the charts looks like just a low thunder risk tomorrow but there will be enough instability over Waikato/BOP/Auckland for some afternoon/evening showers, possibly heavy.
Maybe an afternoon shower risk over Northland/Auckland today.
Chart shows 500mb upper trough out to east of country. This is tomorrow 00Z.

Re: General February Weather
Very nice cloud build up over Ranui, Massey area slowly shifting to the North Shore, viewed from work site in Henderson Valley about 1600 hrs
It seems to close in Eastwards
Waitakere Ranges, couple of small clouds but mostly clear. 1700 hrs
I got my camera too late as lower clouds took away the contrast.

We had a brief heavy shower with 3.6mm. Have heard 5 rolls of thunder so far, seems to be weakening now as it heads north

Wow, where did that weather come from. Looked out the window at 5pm and there were some huge buildups. Looked as black as the ace of spades looking north towards the city.

I can't tell where I am underneath all that, but from my view point it looked like the heaviest rain was near Pakuranga & Farm Cove.
Showers continuing here.

Re: General February Weather
Unexpected thunder in Auckland today!
Tomorrow afternoon could be interesting over the Waikato/Auckland with more late day instability modeled.

Normally you can put an image from a URL so not sure why it hasn't worked.Aucklandstorm wrote:Wow no idea how to upload pic from phone haha
Another option is to put up a link.

Re: General February Weather
For external image referencing: use the [ img] [ /img] tags without the space in the tag the url bit goes in the middle unlike the URL tag.
If you can just resize your image to 800x600 or so and then attach that to your post, then you don't need to worry about external image hosting.
Hope that helps

Re: General February Weather
A few heavy showers around, Brian you may get clipped by it later on as its seems to be moving north....
Land SFC temp is quite cool around 10°C atm, while the sea is still warm.
Any convection that comes inland this morning will die quite quickly.Hopefully some heavy showers and the odd thunderstorm is on the cards this arvo, but the setup doesnt look that favorable.
