I think today was the best for Thunderstorms over the upper NorthIsland in a couple of years.
Some photos from a great storm we watched near Pukekohe, lightning active .

the second pukekohe CB that developed
my lightning tracker shows its all died now ( as we suspected would happen with the upper level support moving off)
(at the peak with the CB over us this aftrernoon I recorded nearly 800 close strikes!)
ps that flooding looks bad!

Need to get out chasing on days like yesterday because we have too few.
I see next week has some thunderstorm possibilities, have to wait and see how it develops in the models.

Yes, some great photos etc there.
Some good build-ups, but remained relatively fine here yesterday. We did get a brief 12mm torrential downpour around 3:30am this morn though.

Re: Thunder possible this week starting 13th Feb
We were very busy for the NZ fire service, multiple floodings in Greenbay, Titirangi, New Lynn and Glen Eden area's.
Many flooded basements and low lying areas of the streets.
Often blocked storm water drains with leaves and branches
Calls started shortly after 1900 hrs, very loud lightning strikes and massive amounts of water.

Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?

Re: Thunder possible this week starting 13th Feb
caught up with some of what happened localy here with the big thunderstorm when I was chasing elsewhere
reports of hail stones so big people were stopping and then afterwards checking there cars for dints!
(not sure if they were big enough to cause dints though on the report I got)
that was round central road, a few kms north of me
