15.4 degrees here at present and 62% humidity.
A scarlet sunrise below grey overcast, "shepherd's warning"?

How on earth could there computers have come up with such a excessively high temp but also not to have been moderated by the forecasters so close out is bit slack i say.
Maximum reported at Chch airport was 23 deg, and it was drizzling in the morning. Not a bad effort in the end. ;-)
Yes but if the weather had turned out as forecasted as there was no mention of it clearing the temps wouldnt have in the 20's and i wouldnt have made the above comment

The old saying "shepherd's warning" is meaningless for us on this side of the Sourthern Alps.

Similar conditions here as well Orion 14.5 with a light NW.

Some low stratus and 18C to start the day in Auckland. Should be a warm muggy day ahead of tonights cold front.

A cold polar airmass crossing the South Island tomorrow with isolated afternoon/evening thunderstorms/hail over eastern Otago/Canterbury.
I was in Timaru last weekend, should have gone down there this weekend!

As I expected, with the "red sky in the morning", the nor'wester has sprung up quite strongly here now; I await the next 24 hours with interest.

Power's been off here for the last hour or so, 'multiple lines down' due to high winds, seems to be along foothills from Methven to Ruapuna. (posted from mobile phone)

27 degrees reached here, back down to 26 at the moment with a Northerly, periods of gusts and then lighter winds. One of the warmest days of the year. Will be very comfortable night at the rugby tonight!

Looking forward to the coming week - looks like fine, settled weather for Auckland with just some harmless cloud through until Friday. Boring in one sense, but the serotonin levels are low and I'm hoping for some pretty cirrus for my cloud collection, so in that sense it could be very enjoyable.

16.4mm in my manual gauge since 5pm yesterday, vs 15.6mm on the weather station after I had to add a multiplier. Not bad :)

Taking a look at the long range forecast, looks like high pressure will dominate much of NZ throughout the next week or so. However, ECMWF shows a couple of deepening lows heading from the subtropics towards NZ around the 2nd/3rd April. A long way out obviously but something to keep an eye on.

Another nice day here with a brief westerly change back to dead still again.
