GFS on the other hand has the low dropping around 300k's east of the country.

Partly to mostly cloudy weather atm with mild temperatures.

I reckon it will be between the gfs and ecmwf with the low just east of northland tracking SE meaning a pretty messy easter for most of the country except the westcoast till the end of the weekend.

Lovely autumnal day here, light winds, plenty of sunshine, max 21C.

I see GFS is now bringing a tropical low our way next week.

Richard and snowstormwatcher - about like that here too, drizzly & overcast; thought it would break around 2pm but the drizzle returned soon after. Currently 10.6 degrees.

No measurable drizzle recorded here. Will be interesting to see how the models line up tomorrow with the GFS now plotting the low much closer to NZ.

The ECMRF suggests we will get some rain in the north from Monday. There could be a heavy rainfall event in the north mid week, have to see how the models shape up.

ECMWF has the low further east now with the main low drifting well to the east so seems GFS picked this one up better from the 'longrange' point of view.

ECMWF still persists with rain for the NorthIsland early /mid next week, I will decide which is the better model next week

A cold night for Auckland with GFS forecast low of 12C! Then the mins are higher into the weekend with 15-16C.

Ukmet has a deep low over the North Island Wednesday.

Yes, NOGAPS also has it curving back West to stall over the NI for a couple of days, although weakening, if I'm reading it right. I'm not very experienced at looking at these.

Cool, clear evening in Auckland. I hear Jupiter is extra-bright if anyone is in a position to look. I'm loving the crisp, sunny mornings this week. Very pleasant for walking the little fella to school.

Latest BOM models have a huge easterly storm coming

That's a bit grim for you - it's 10.2 deg. here now, overcast & murky if not actually drizzling.

It's looking like we are going to have several days of strong easterlies no matter which model you look at now, not such a nice week coming up!
