No MetVUW NP rain-radar image?
New Plymouth once had a rain radar which was viewable on METVUW's site but the the wheel feel off. who nicked it and when will it be put back on (turned back on). I'm taking a wild guess here and reckon it was a super bargain of the year deal from china, steak knives and mug included. .... or is it coin operated

Budget-cuts at Wgtn Uni maybe? You could try asking MetVUW's site-master.
Note that MetVUW merely enhance an image every 3 hours from data supplied by MetService's radar network, which I believe cost around $3m each to set up. As per the link above, MetService's New Plymouth Airport radar is still operational and has been since May, 2008.

Total cost was around NZ$1.1m when they installed the BOP Radar. Remote sites like Westland and Northland would cost more.

Interesting as the project manager told me that figure when I was on site with him. Mind you, it might be just the installation, excluding huge external infrastructure/software costs elsewhere.

My supervisor is the creator of MetVUW so if there is anything you need me to pass onto him, I would be happy to do so.
