Summer 2011-12
According to stuff.co.nz Wellington had 21% less sunshine of average since records began at Kelburn in 1928 with 534 hours of the 91 days of climatic summer and Auckland,Tauranga and Hamilton the cloudiest summer since keeping records.

I consider March to be a Summer month in Auckland, ave min 14.6C, ave max 22.4C, warmer than December averages.

Even with older records going back to 1907, it was still Wellington's cloudiest summer, despite the extra day.
However Blenheim's almost unbelieveably low 139 hours of sunshine in February (average 227, previous low 160) was probably the standout of the summer, in terms of sun anomalies. Tekapo very much better with 267 Dec, 300 Jan and 203 Feb.
