Good stuff, I hope it's a sheep paddock, larger beasts tend to be a bit hard on the gear.

Did you do any earthing of the pole the Anemometer is on?

Matangi Weather Station Relocation

Unread post by Tornado Tim »

Earthing on the pole, I am not sure since its a concrete ex-power pole I presume it already has it.
The cable running down the anemometer is RJ11 or telephone type cable which is UV filtered.
Since the cable was a power pole at one stage it was real pain in the rear-end to drill 4 holes in it (took around 1 1/2 hour to drill), it was honestly like stone.

The station will have an electric fence around it so stock wont be able to touch it (the place where it is doesnt have any yet..)

The longrange wireless link between the two homes (mine and where the station is at) still needs to be done but that will done next Sunday.

Ok, wireless link, so no physical connection back via computer to phone line. Most concerns now gone. Very good, well done sir :)

Could the moderators move this to off topic as this has nothing to do with general weather

As far as I am concerned it is on topic as it falls into this forums blurb "Weather reports, prognostics, questions and discussion. Climate diagnostics and outlooks. Wx stations and websites."

that's nice

..but I think that another section should be added for WX stations and Websites as to click onto the General Weather Section as to fine technical weather postings a tad boring on a General Weather postings site, I'm sorry.
Nev, can you do this?

No. If you find them boring, don't open the thread and roll your cursor over 'Forum' at the top and click on 'Mark forums read' to stop new posts being indicated.

Wind speed and Direction are now up (it may go down on Sunday again as tweaks may need to done on the cable couplers)

For the most part the move is complete, just need to install the Wifi WAN Link between the two homes and setup the boltek and Bliztortung detectors :)

Here are some pictures of the setup :)
