Re: General April Weather
I see, (sorry wrong topic here that Culverden and Molesworth had today's maximum so you would of had a warm day as well. It was cool in Lyttelton, where I was today, where despite the sunshine and the fact that it looses it's sunshine because of the hills, it was cool there with wispy NE cloud draping the forbidden high areas of the hills. Noticed some fault lines and areas that where the rocks had fallen. No wonder it is an off-zone.Richard wrote:An absolutely lovely warm day with not a breath wind till about 4.00 when a light southerly came up,high of 24.5
Anyway, I don't like the Phil Duncan's site of Daily Highs. The minimums are incorrectly stated when it says the for the eg. Mt. Lyford was only 16C but then when you check the list it says that Mt. Lyford was 9C.

Re: General April Weather
We have raining fog here in hamilton. quite a strange look. It has a real snowy look to it with the cloud on the ground with rain falling.

Re: General April Weather
Reasonably nice day here, partly cloudy. Min 11C, now up to 19, should reach 21 this afternoon
Yet to see any 'cold' nights here.

Re: General April Weather
I see the metservice have a bob each way again with tomorrows forecast,for the Canterbury plains they have 'Rain developing from late morning with a southerly change, strong about the coast at first. Rain clearing in the evening and winds dying out inland' but only saying 0.1mm of rain am and 0.5mm pm,

Re: General April Weather
Might be a thunderstorm risk tomorrow in Canterbury midday or early afternoon? Dewpoints should be ok, might be some high cloud though and wonder if surface temp can get up enough relative to the cold upper air that will come through. Something to watch, wouldn't count on it but who knows......

If so, it will be interesting as the surface barometer presure is too high.
Should be some puffy Cu around depending on the coldness of the upper atmos.

Another Kelvin Helmholtz in Auckland today - this one shot by my sister. I'm a bit jealous, it's nicer than my one!

Re: General April Weather
A stiffish-sounding southerly 'wuthering' in the chimney at present;
12.1 degrees, which is higher than I thought it might have been for the time of day and the conditions;
looks quite dark to the south.

Re: General April Weather
Was heavy drizzle and a cool southerly where I was in the hill country inland from here. Felt around 8-9 degrees most of the day.
High of 10 degrees here.

Re: General April Weather
Indeed nothing happened, only ever considered it a small risk myself hence "don't count on it". I could see an upper level cold trough moving over. We are heading into winter though and the change was too early, no heating and overcast before the change (from what I'm told, I was asleep at the time! lol). Still a few nice heavy showers did move through as I got woken up by them.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:If so, it will be interesting as the surface barometer presure is too high.
