Possible Kelvin-Helmholtz

Unread post by littleheaven »

Taken from the carpark at Westfield Glenfield. I could see it forming as I was driving up to the entrance, and nearly ran off the road in my haste to find a spot to take the picture. Sadly I only had my iPhone on which to snap it.

Thanks! I just wish I'd had a better camera on me at the time.

I took a pic several years ago like that.. It was taken at Lake Ferry, Lower Wairarapa..

I never knew there was a special name for this formation..

Cool shot. Apparently it's quite a rare formation, according to the Cloud Collectors Handbook, hence my astonishment at seeing one locally.

Yes. There was some of this cloud-form reported in ChCh according to Rebecca on the TV One weather this evening.

It must be the week for it. The same day I saw mine, a friend in Texas photographed some on her way to work.
