Interesting things in the sky the last few days, ive seen a few photos floating around on facebook tonight of what looks like an ice crystal arc over the Port Hills this afternoon.
They are quite rare often see them around the sun as in sun dogs but this was nowhere near the sun, i will see if i can pinch a photo for on here.
The one i seen yesterday was just a faint coloured rainbow on the horizon out east within a blue dome backdrop but much wider than a rainbow.
This photo was taken in Westerfield on Tuesday morning looking east. Apologies for the poor quality.

Nice pic. _b Looks and sounds like Cloud Iridescence or Iridescent Clouds.

Edit: Could also be a Circumhorizon Arc, but the timing sounds wrong?
