Re: General July Weather
Wakatipu and Central Otago plumbers were rushed off their feet yesterday tending to burst and frozen pipes as the big freeze clocked in close to record lows of more than minus 11 degrees Celsius in places.
Masses of large, "platter"-sized chunks of floating ice have kept Shotover and Skippers Jet off the water for three days.
Arrowtown took the prize, clocking in a big chill of minus 11.5C just before dawn, followed closely by Ranfurly on minus 11.3C.

Re: General July Weather
this weather pattern of the NI, with the westerly wind running past a cold easterly and producing lots of rotating shower cells, reminds of that time when taranaki had an outbreak of tornadoes a few winters back....

Re: General July Weather
Interesting weather yesterday, looked at the radar early morning there showed a band of rain from south of Waipara to just north of CHCH moving SW,three hours later at 11.00 i drove through that rain band to get to Ferrymead to where there was a bit of sunshine, then on the way home again went back through that same rain band again, mean while hardly any rain here.

Re: General July Weather
Seems like big local variance around city for rainfall amounts. According to radar all the drizzle moving west of CHCH again

Re: General July Weather
It was more than drizzle driving to work this morning. Quite heavy rain showers mixed with light drizzle in between actually right into Riccarton.CHCH Weather Chaser wrote:Seems like big local variance around city for rainfall amounts. According to radar all the drizzle moving west of CHCH again
