Re: General July Weather
It wasn't elevated convection from what I could see...... the cloud base actually came down more when it rained and got some fog too was the temp dropped to near the DP.NZstorm wrote:My guess is the convection is elevated.

Re: General July Weather
Yea was not elevated at all. The cloud base was quite low actually.
As I left work the flooding was worse than it was this morning. Poor farmers and animals. Half way home I could tell the rain didn't get any further than that. All of a sudden there was way less flooding and drains were receding not rising like back at work.

General July Weather
I found which fence has the short but I can't find the short. I suspect it's an underground one. Will have to have a play on the weekend. In the time being, people using Hamilton lightning will have to put up with the big blob of lightning.

Just to mention - Witch Hazel usually flowers in winter, as does Wintersweet; there is a variety of cherry, Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis', which flowers through the winter.NZstorm wrote:I saw a flowering cherry yesterday. It has not been the warmest of winters here though (too many frosts) but sunshine must be up.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Our Witch-hazel is coming out to bloom already.
And how nice it is to see them before Spring really starts!

There are a number of plants that flower in Auckland in the winter months, I notice some Magnolia are flowering as are the Camellia's.
