I suspect either it's a king high tide or the air pressure is really low. A very high tide tonight. Day started early then down to Kawerau, Opotiki & Torere and home to Tauranga. Lots of wind, lashing rain (mainly in 10 minute showers), no sun worth mentioning. Very big seas out there.

Last night was extremely windy, not a lot of sleep here and some minor damage overnight from the wind.

Sorry, this location really isn't that suitable for a weather station (no grass and sheltered on the flood plain) so presently no recordings to refer to. But with the machine running with the TOA detector all the time I am considering firing one up in any case.

Southland wasn't included in any warnings. There was a 'watch' out but we were removed from that yesterday morning. Currently, a strong SE wind with drizzle.
:?: Is clutha not southland.

Westport showing 15C currently with a gusty fohn easterly.

Snow falling on the southern skii fields tonight however temperatures suggest it will be wet snow on the lower slopes.
Temperatures showing at around 1C for lower slopes

28mm here so far with steady light to moderate sweeping rain. Haven't had any heavy falls. Looks like South Canterbury have got a hosing overnight though. Models have backed off the rest of the week now so doesnt look like the week will be as wet. Christchurch right on the edge of the band over the last few hours.

It is colder this morning in Auckland than Queenstown, cooling here from a clear calm night.

Some wet snow overnight for the Otago Skii fields, Coronet Peak reporting 30Cm new snow upper Mnt, 10cm lower ski slopes

Cold upper level air over the upper North Island today, should see some Cb clouds around today.

Mt Dobson has had 50cm of snow so far.
Just been out and there's quite a bit of surface flooding around the place. 8mm of rain in the last hour.
