Had 27mm for yesterday in Oamaru , Only light showers today , Forecast worrisome for tonight & tomorrow (60-90mm to 2400 Tuesday), we are super saturated, hillsides are oozing water , river catchments are overflowing into each other , many closed rural roads , a bit of a journey to get out and get home if you can.

Doesnt look like overly much for CHCH tomorrow. Maybe some brief decent rain around midday but short lived. Would be surprised if we got over 10-15mm tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if this drizzle stalls over us overnight.

It would be not bad if it "goes away and doesn't come back to play another day."

No rain in Halswell at present, but laden sky suggests it won't stay that way all day.

Met service say 40-60mm today, Blueskies say 5-10mm (admittedly yesterday mornings forecast).

Someone is going to take an accolade today at the expense of the other!!!

I think Blueskies are the top medal candidate.

PS I add up 15 mm on http://metservice.com/towns-cities/chri ... ristchurch.

I think we'll get a decent spell later this afternoon, just had a light shower come through from the NE and its building out to sea

I can see some blue sky, and my shadow faintly, just at the moment;
it's looking fairly watery all round the horizon though.
High cloud moving across from the east.
We had a further 9mm of rain in the 24 hours to this morning, giving 59mm for the event so far.
The Hinds River at the Maronan Road bridge was running fast, dirty and bank-to-bank yesterday, and I noticed the Ashburton River rose visibly between midday and 2.30pm. Water across the road in a dozen places between here and Ashburton, also pot-holes forming in sealed road surfaces.
10.0 degrees at present.

Rainband developing nicely just off the coast. Its going to get wetter soon

Just worked out there has been 258mm of rain here in the last 2 weeks which is a lot for this area.

Been heavy drizzle all day but only 10mm since 7am.
