Low Pressure System Aug 19 - 22

Unread post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

Well, the next low pressure system is set to move over the country from the Tasman sea.
Is this the end of them as we move into a new weather pattern scenario?

A good August for Auckland so far, a little warmer and sunnier than normal, rainfall up but the rain has tended to be heavy.

It does look like we will change into more of a zonal pattern which means higher pressure in the Tasman and warmer temperatures for eastern areas. Thunderstorms for the South Island West Coast in the coming weeks.

Only temporarily, but it will be a blessed relief for a few weeks.

Another grey and overcast, dull day with nothing much happening. Some unspectacular rain overnight and this evening. :(

O, hark, what is that I hear pattering on the roof? Why, it's rain, again :rolleyes:
4mm in the 24 hours to 9am this morning; 6mm to 9am yesterday morning;
feeling sorry for those with young stock in the paddocks.

Good solid area of rain coming up the coast from the south, even red showing on the radars at times so must be decent falls.
Only a total of 6mm from this system so far which is much easier to handle, although the grass is taking off quickly i think thats because we havnt had any frosts for ages and loads of rain.

I see some convection has been going up around the BOP the last few hours. Must have been another smaller trough.

Yes, but not as dramatically as spectacular than you Auckland buggers. :>
Things are growing nicely at the moment so it looks like a good Spring coming up here :smile:
As far as the weather goes and as far as spring time storms go, we have to wait and see. :D
