Yes, it does look like it as an anticyclone stalls and intensifies to the east of the country next week.

Re: General September Weather
Looks like the incoming High mid week will deliver some cold air to the country. There are signs a sub tropical airmass/ heavy rain may reach northern NZ mid next week, something to watch.

Sounds like a southerly change has arrived - wind booming in the chimney as it does from that direction.
Temp. 7 degrees - seems to have gone up a tad in the last half-hour

That's a bit mean for you, snowstormwatcher!
4.2 degrees here and steady light rain has eased just at the minute to drizzle.

Re: General September Weather
Interesting to compare Australia with NZ this time of year, much better Spring climate over there. Perhaps the Summers are better here, comfortable Summer weather here.

Yes i think you are right,Australian summers are not as nice,Tasmania would be better than anywhere on the mainland.
Ive got a brother in Brisbane and he hates the summers there.
Raining here this morning but not as cold as i thought it was going to be on 7deg

Yes Metservice forecasted snow to 500metres but the models showed the very cold air slipping east of the country?Richard wrote:Yes i think you are right,Australian summers are not as nice,Tasmania would be better than anywhere on the mainland.

Re: General September Weather
I think anticyclonic gloom is my least favourite weather. I'd rather it rained. I'm having post-traumatic flashbacks to last (sunless) summer today!
I think I may have tempted fate by installing solar downlights on my new deck. You have to leave them off until they've had a solid 8 hours of uninterrupted sun to fully charge the batteries. At this rate I'll be able to turn them on some time after Christmas.
