fantastic photos!! now thats what ya call a supercell!! and it had to be christchurch! good on ya mother nature!! and to think me and Aaron were right under the rotating updraft of that storm that night. feel very proud to be apart of it :P :D

That exactly showed what i was close to or near under that night at the airport, just the structure was amazing that rotating core would have been dropping the golf ball hail which i was glad to be not under.
If there had of been a surface southerly with that storm i reackon there would have been a tornado on the ground for some time even, but the surface winds remained strong E-NE even when the storm passed.
The upper level flow would have been S-SW, but yeah lower level strong coverging winds may have been a key ingrediant for a tornado i would think am i right ? :B

funny you should mention that nzstorm as when Aaron and I were chasing it, we didnt get alot of rain or anything as the lightning was coming out and at one stage we were almost right under the storm.
It seemed quite dangrous out in the plains/ fields lol :lol:
