We were out having dinner in Dunedin up in Wakari (hill suburb) and followed the grit truck down to the Octagon. Many parked (and crashed) cars all over the place. Managed to get back to the top of our hill (200m asl) but had a 4WD. All the other cars we were following fell away and had to park. Still hailing here (a few flakes mixed in) but white as white.

If this clears and freezes... snow day tomorrow (or hail-morning at least)

Have been watching those Highgate webcams with interest - the precipitation hasn't let up for an hour or more now.

Had a good hail shower here before it turned to snow so the hail acted as a good base. Started to settle on roof of cars and in garden but has stopped now.

Nice while it lasted. That cell has moved on through to the north now. Not enough precipitation or regular chain showers unfortunately otherwise 3 or so cm could have accummultaed overnight
