I'm currently in Timaru and there's nothing happening down here, Mix of sunshine and cloud, Cu over the hills.
Feels around 14-15c with a easterly breeze.

Yes it does seem a longshot here in ChCh now, scattered cloud (mainly low top Cu) and nothing looking remotely threatening to the south....SO FAR anyway. Daytime heating window starting to run a bit short me thinks, if nothing building in the next hour or two the show's over for us before it even begins.

im home, started early also so i could get home in time for things to fire up.
Isnt to convincing atm but have to remember the trough doesnt arrive untill 5 or 6pm i got told anyways. so thats when u should be watching out for.
There are some nice clouds about though and abit of convergence and shear up there.

Not looking promising at the moment from here. Some Cu and convergence going on to the east of here and nothing much TC way. It's a cool NW here compared to the easterly when I left Halswell at 1:30pm.
Barometer still dropping but things will probably fire up later, I think. :-w

Back at Mayfield now: some clouds roiling up quite 'explosively' - at one point giving the impression Little Mt Peel was erupting! Some chains or ranks of clouds marching up from the south, wind was unsteady in direction & strength ten mins ago, seems to be gusting from south-east at times. High thin cloud still coming from NW.

Yes I drove though Albury 30mins ago and there was surface flooding and hail on the ground. Saw several flashes of lightning but most of the action had already been and gone.

Yes. I think that today's likelihood of thunderstorms is over.
A non- sort of event except if you were in Albury this afternoon :(
Troughs like this don't give much thunderstormic activity, this time of year. Maybe be more so in summer when surface temps are higher interacting with the cold air above. :-S
